Interdisciplinary Linguistics

Investigate the structure, acquisition and social functions of human 语言 with the University of Wisconsin-欧克莱尔's interdisciplinary linguistics minor or certificate. Rooted in experiential learning and research, the multidisciplinary program allows for true exploration and discovery. Alongside researchers and experts in fields like humanities, social sciences and natural sciences, you'll help answer questions relating to the nature of human 语言, where it came from and how it is acquired.  

The goal of the program is to enhance students’ abilities to reason about 语言 by providing opportunities to analyze the sounds, 单词, sentences and/or meanings of natural 语言; to describe variation and change in natural 语言; and to form and test hypotheses about 语言 by collecting, organizing and analyzing linguistic data. Courses cover a variety of perspectives, 包括语言, 哲学, 人类学, 心理学, 社会学, 计算机科学 and neuroscience. By drawing on the theories and methodologies of these many disciplines, you'll gain critical skills and insights that will benefit you on both a professional and personal level.
